Meet Tania,

In a city that loves its social clubs, where brunches, rooftop cocktails, and gallery events fill the weekends, one woman is reinventing what it means to gather. Meet the creator behind Girl Dinner Social, a club where friendship and aesthetics collide in the most picture-perfect way. She didn’t just build a community—she built a space where women could live out their Pinterest board dreams and make new friends along the way.

Born in China and raised in the suburbs of Illinois, Tania later moved to the East Coast to chase her ambitions, earning a degree at Northeastern University before diving into fintech and real estate. But it was in Chicago, where she returned in 2021, that her true calling found her. Hosting was woven into her DNA, deeply rooted in her Asian background, where food was the glue that brought everyone together. Watching her parents cook and host, she learned early on that gathering people around a table was the quickest route to connection.

What inspired you to create a social club centered around safe and aesthetic dinner parties?

I started GDS because I love hosting and I love doing all the cutesy, pinteretsy stuff. But I always find myself waiting on people in my life to say "yes". and I never end up doing any of the activities I want to do. I decided to invite a couple of strangers from Bumble BFF to my dinner parties and we all became really close friends. So I was thinking, "Why not make this for everyone?" I started GDS in August this year and it has grown much bigger than I ever dreamed of.

To boil down GDS's slogan, it's essentially that you do not need to wait for people in your life to say yes, you can build the life, experiences and friendship you want now, with the comfort of having a community of women who want to do the same.

How do you approach designing each event to make it picture-worthy and memorable?

The core of the GDS experience is the aesthetics. I try my best to deliver the Pinterest mood board aesthetics. At the end of the day, we are all girls and we have all been waiting for our dream Pinterest dinner party to come true! For any new events, I always try to hear feedback from the girls in our community on what activities they would love to do.

Where do you see Girl Dinner Social going from here? Any big plans or dreams?

I would love to build GDS into an all-in-one platform for all the girls. I don't want to share too many details yet, but I'm working on a bigger idea :)

If you could give one piece of advice to other women building their own paths, what would it be?

Start doing what you want to do and dream to do NOW. Don't wait for people or the perfect timing, you never know what can happen if you just start now.
