Justin's Revenge - Exclusive Interview

Justin's Revenge

The Art of Hair and the Business of Legacy

Justin ‘s latest “Let’s Chat” series where he talks about everything hair-related on his Instagram page.

Some artists work with paint, others with marble. Justin works with hair. But his journey didn’t begin with shears in hand—it started in a salon chair, watching his mother spend countless hours transforming before his eyes. As a kid, he sat there, absorbing the rhythm of the salon—the hum of blow dryers, the careful precision of stylists sculpting hair like art, and the quiet confidence of a woman stepping out looking and feeling her best.

That was the moment the seed was planted. But like all great stories, Justin’s rise in the industry didn’t happen overnight.

“I first started by shouting out my friends’ hair on Instagram, printing flyers, trying to get my name out there,” he recalls. “One summer, I spent my days waiting for walk-ins in a salon that was... let’s just say, not where I saw myself long-term.” It was a lesson in patience, resilience, and, more importantly, a realization: he didn’t just want to do hair out of necessity or because he hadn’t gone to college. He wanted to do it because it was his craft.

And so, he made a plan.

Justin's Revenge Salon, his current space, was founded almost by chance—when he and his partner were looking for a place to live. “The agent showed us this space, and they were just laying the woodwork. To most people, it probably looked awkward, unfinished. But I saw the potential.” He knew immediately that this wasn’t just a home—it was the foundation for something much bigger.

That instinct paid off.

This past summer, Justin found himself in the room with the Gabrielle Union, but not before first doing her daughter’s hair. Then came Angel Reese for Sports Illustrated, and then Simone Biles through the same contact. “It all happened organically,” he says, reflecting on how his name traveled through the industry. And now? You’ll have to follow him on Instagram to see who he randomly reveals next.

But making it wasn’t just about the names. For Justin, it’s about what comes next—not just for himself but for the hairstylists of Chicago. “I want to create classes, maybe even a school, teaching young stylists how to build a career that lasts,” he shares. “There’s an art to hair, but there’s also an art to the business. Setting prices, professionalism, longevity—this isn’t just a side hustle.”

In a city where hairstylists often find themselves working from kitchen chairs or bouncing between salons, Justin wants to redefine what success looks like in the industry. A craft. A career. A legacy.

“Effortless hair is all I do.”

- Justin, Founder of Justin’s Revenge

And if history has shown anything, it’s that when Justin sees potential—whether in a space, a style, or a person—he turns it into something worth remembering.
